This is an exciting event during the school year when we focus on the importance and pleasure of reading and being read to.

Throughout the week, the children will be taking part in stories and activities related to our visiting authors, Chris Wormell (who has written the Alien School Boy stories) and Paul Delaney (who has written the Princess Ponies collection under alias Chloe Ryder).

The children will also be getting involved in the following events:

Bookworm, a local book shop will be setting up in the Second School Hall from Tuesday – Thursday of Book Week between 8.00am and 9.00am in the morning and 4.15pm – 5.30pm in the afternoon. There will be an excellent selection of children’s books for sale including those by our visiting authors. Please spend generously as the school will receive a commission on books sold during Book Week. Please note Bookworm will accept cash and cheque only.

The Book Week timetable is as follows:

Friday 24th November

  • Fancy Dress Parade. All children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book or nursery rhyme character (as we are promoting books and reading, no television or Disney characters please). If the costume is not suitable for wearing all day, please make sure that other clothes are provided.

Children’s Book Week is a very important part of our school year. We hope you will support our efforts by talking to the children about the events taking place during the week, preparing a costume for Friday and visiting the bookshop.
