​or the younger children we offer a broad and balanced curriculum in line with Sure Start (a framework to support children in their earliest years) and the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage.

The Foundation Stage provides an appropriate curriculum for:

  • Personal, social and emotional development: Focusing on children learning how to work, play, co-operate with others and function in a group beyond the family.
  • Communication, language and literacy: Focusing on children developing competence in speaking and listening, and in becoming readers and writers.
  • Mathematics: Covering aspects of mathematical understanding and providing the foundation for numeracy.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the world: Focusing on children developing knowledge and understanding of their environment, other people and features of the natural and made world.
  • Physical development: Focusing on children developing physical control, mobility, awareness of space and manipulative skills in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Creative development: Focusing on the development of children’s imagination and their ability to communicate and to express ideas and feelings in creative ways.
