The Prep III’s outing to Lord’s, the home of cricket, was an absolute corker! Upon their arrival at the grounds, the children relished the opportunity to take to the stands and observe the Middlesex team engaged in pre-match activities before their game against Leicestershire. The children then had their very own warm-up session in a special training workshop with coaches from the Marylebone Cricket Club. Making the most of the MCC’s impressive facilities, the children practiced their batting, bowling and fielding skills with great enthusiasm. The class then took an exciting behind the scenes tour of the world renowned Pavilion, including the players’ dressing rooms, the legendary long room, the honors boards and the J.P. Morgan Media Centre where they learnt how matches are reported. The visit culminated in a trip to the museum where the children learnt all about the history of cricket and were able to view the famous Ashes urn up close! Following a picnic lunch in the glorious summer sunshine, it was Alpha versus Epsilon as the children enjoyed a good game of cricket in St. John’s Wood Church Gardens. Howzat?!
