Project Waterfall
World Water Day is a celebration of water held annually on Wednesday 22nd March to raise awareness of the water crisis. 771 million people around the world don’t have access to clean water. The majority live in isolated, rural areas – the same areas growing our coffee.
While we enjoy the purest filtered water in our coffee, the communities at the end of its supply chain face a water crisis. That’s why this World Water Day the children at The Mulberry House School took part in Project Waterfall in solidarity with countries that do not have access to clean water.
The Pupil Parliament have decided to walk around our school, carrying a water bottle in their school backpacks. The Prep children walked around the second building 10 times and as for the EYFS classes they completed their walk during their Outdoor Learning session.
Science Sustainability topic
The children in the Prep classes have been learning about the problems we face on water shortage and the effects of droughts. We decided to create a rain catcher out of recycled materials and the children will used the collected rain water to water out planets at school. In the EYFS classes, the children have been looking at how to take care of our plants. They have been involved with planting and watering their plants in the garden.

The pupil parliament stuck stickers in the toilets to remind the pupils and the staff to save water by remembering to shut the tap after they have washed their hands.
